it's not multitouch, if you press two separate points on the screen, it will recognize like if you were pressing the middle of it....
tipo, quando vc pressiona dois pontos na tela vc cria uma linha que liga os dois pontos, o que vai ser reconhecido é o meio dessa linha...

But in essence it IS multi touch ! Maybe NOT the true multitouch of the iPhone but it allows the user to use multiple points onscreen. Fair enough the distance and relation has to be worked out, but it would allow us to use "emulated" multi touch in games - such as the snes emulator. I think it is good. Well done sir.

I have Maesynth application installed on n900. It is doing the same thing. If i press 2 different points it is detecting the middle of it. So technically it knows those 2 points and it is averaging to get the centre point. This thing even makes me think that the hardware actually supports multitouch but it is not implemented in software. Even if i press both point simultaneously it will still detect the middle point and as soon as I leave one finger it will switch to the point of other finger

@SundownBeats that's what I've said.

@tikipyky Getting a capacitive display means changing the n900's display , because n900 has resistive display wich doesn't have multitouch . :)

@SundownBeats mmmmmmmmm....you are wrong sir. If i get a capacitive display + digitizer, i will have multitouch, but i don't need it :]

@rocko306x Multitouch it's a part of hardware , not software , whatever you'll use on n900 , it won't have multitouch .
-

i believe that the cellphone's hardware DOES support multi-touch, this video is not the multi-touch that everybody knows, is all about the screen recognising more than 1 finger, the main problem is maemo (wich by the way SLICK5), it identifies the second finger as a reference of a very big finger between the actual 2 fingers, wich explains why both fingers seems to pres the middle key in the theremin (never felt so dumb for buying a cellphone, i call it the N900 scam!)
Yea thats my point, although it may not be outright multi touch as many of us now expect, the question is whether this quota can be applied as a constructive tool in other apps and games. Food for thought I guess.
