NBA on NBC Intro: 2008 Eastern Finals Game 3

As I was sitting there wondering why ESPN/ABC went to that creepy voice in its intro (full disclosure: I think ESPN/ABC's coverage has improved, and I'm a huge fan of the Breen/Jackson/JVG booth, but I'm also a killer for nostalga), I thought to myself, what would the intro have looked like if NBC still owned TV rights to the NBA? My guess is that it would be something like this.

As you can see, the inspiration comes from NBC's theme during the 1994 playoffs. Kevin Garnett/Paul Pierce/Ray Allen/Rasheed Wallace/Richard Hamilton/Chauncey Billups, etc. isn't quite like Jordan/Barkley/Malone/Hakeem/Ewing/etc, but I hope everyone appreciates this nonetheless.

Also, yes, I'm a sucker for U2, and I was having a little bit of fun on the last clip. Apologies.

Ray Allen is Miller's Pupil for cryin out loud. And the 2000 Lakers would wipe the floor with the 2008 Lakers. Shaq was at his peak then and they also had Glen Rice, Ron Harper, AC Greene, etc. The 2000 Lakers would wipe the floor with the 2008 Celtics. 2000 was pretty much the last year of NBA Golden era. Now the NBA is good but no where near the yrs from 1988-2001.

Why do people think musical montage openings look like NBA on NBC? If there's no epic narration from Marv or Bob Costas to go with the music then its not going to look/feel like NBA on NBC
