Gogie Grant had the big #1 hit of this song in 1956. Many other singers recorded it. But the 2d biggest recording of this song was by
Tex Ritter Whose us recording went to #28 and in the UK it was much better reaching #8.

Memories should be saved as soon as possible as they will never come again

I go back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. Best version? Tex? Gogi? I don't mind calling it a tie. What great music this is!

This I think was Tex's best recording but I think Gogie's is still better.

Let me tell you this is coming from the worlds greatest Frankie Laine fan, Gogi's 1956 version of the "Wayward Wind" was by far the best and Tex's came right after. Frankie's 1968 recording was way behind, he could have done better, but I guess he wanted it to sound different. If Frankie had put his heart into it like he did to his 1955 "Cool Water" the other two would never been heard of. But he didn't and that's history.

Tex had that kind of voice that could just 'paint a picture' and make you SEE what he was singing about....Johnny Cash, too! Tex was a real gentleman--I met him in 1971.

Sure wish someone would upload Witicha by Tex Ritter. Just don't hear music like this today and I sure miss it.

Great video: well done! But why oh why did you have to misspell the name of the immortal TEX RITTER as "Tex Rutter" [sic] in your opening frame?

No question, it's Gogi's version, but the Tex Ritter version is great. Check out Patsy Cline's rendition....
