Amazingly moving song. If you have ever loved and lost I challenge you to listen to this and not shed a tear. Very talented band.

I used to love the 70's prog rock bands, these guys are better than most of them. Stiring melodies and great vocals with an intelligents that cant be beat!
-
This is probably THE BEST UPLOAD of 2009, one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard, thank you for posting.

As a song writer, musician and huge music fan of all shapes and colors..... this is perhaps one of the if not THE most beautiful songs ever written! Truly Amazing!

This song brings out so much emotion for me. I often drum through this entire album, and when this one starts playing I get very depressed and have to blink away the tears. It readies me for the slow, steady beat coming up, though.

Well stated!
I just caught The Decemberists at the Calgary Folk fest last week, they played HoL start to finish there as well. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
I figure this is like The Wall of our generation. A high art concept album blending disparate forms of music employed for characterization and theme against the backdrop of a stunning, epic tale of love and loss.
This is a band that gets better and better with every album they put out.
