@sirhcelah At the dawn of history in Europe, the Celts then living in what is now France were known as Gauls to the Romans Iron Age/Roman age. The territory of these peoples probably included the low countries, the Alps and what is now northern Italy.
After Bannow Bay 1159 Normans maintained a distinct culture and ethnicity. Yet, with time, they came to be subsumed into Irish culture to the point that it has been said that they became "more Irish than the Irish themselves."
