One of the biggest hatchet editing jobs in the series. Cartoon can be found uncut on Spotlight Collection vol.2. They literally changed the cartoon. Check out the WIKI and look at the pictures of what these idiots did to this episode.

* The version of this cartoon that aired on CBS was a redrawn version (in which a young white teenage lady replaces Mammy's appearance and is revoiced by June Foray) with the following changes made. These changes were done under the production of Chuck Jones, and are noted in the wiki
The woman puts on nail polish, as in the original, but instead of putting on jewelry, the white "Mammy" answers the phone and tells the caller, Cathy, that she is on her way. She also answers the door for "Lover Boy" instead of putting on a stoplight necklace. All of the original sound effects remain.
Instead of playing cards at a Bridge Club, the white "Mammy" is dancing with a man at a party. When the white "Mammy" points and exclaims "Thomas!" in anger at the cats, the viewer only sees Tom instead of seeing the three other cats (which was that way in the original version). Jerry's rant to the cats about the noise they are making (which is interfering with his ability to sleep) is muted in the redrawn version. On Cartoon Network, the original animation is left intact, but Mammy's voice is redubbed with that of Thea Vidale.
TNT aired a version in which the redrawn white lady has Mammy's voice

Lillian Randolph as Mammy Two Shoes (original uncensored version)
June Foray as Thin White Lady (re-animated version) (uncredited)
Thea Vidale as Mammy Two Shoes (redubbed version) (uncredited)
William Hanna as Jerry (uncredited)

  • You'll have to be quick, but if you pause at the right time somewhere between 5:19 and 5:20 you can see Mammy's face.

  • I love it when she says "Excuuuuuse me!" XD

  • like the better version of the Aristocats

  • Can anyone quote what Jerry says at 2:46?

  • I've never seen the edited one...EVER. in my life. O_O

I think once they showed this version on Cartoon Network..around a year or 2 ago.

  • I wonder if Lillian Randolph's hilarious "EXC-U-U-U-USE ME!" inspired Steve Martin's use of that phrase almost 20 years later. Oh, and to the P.C. Police who censor everything in sight, here's a friendly piece of advice: Get a life.

  • Double loss - Tom gets pwned, and Jerry still has to listen to that loud music.

  • Thank you uploading the original - priceless and all time childhood fave! At a time when Herge and Enid Blighton's stereo typing were common ground and accepted, its not hard to see why during subsequent years of social evolution, this episode would cause such a stir and be re-written and redrawn a number of times over. However acceptable the newer versions are/were, this original and uncensored version packs the punchlines like none of its ascendants. Luckily the jazz score was left untouched!

  • "A party?! At MY howse??! Ex-CUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME!"

  • I always enjoyed that episode; the music was priceless. Too bad the group who performed it never got the credit they deserved or made a single of it.
