CPMotorworks, Inc of Janesville Wi shows what is needed to repair poorly ground journals of an aftermarket crankshaft. We were able to remove .002" from these main journals to correct the hourglass shaped journals that were the result of a poorly dressed grinding wheel and over-polishing.

  • if it came right out of the box why was the timing chain gear on it?

  • @cbr900rr919 Because it was installed for mockup

  • So I suppose the rod journals were just as bad,nice.. Good to know that no matter how good something is supposed to be,it really pays to check it out thoroughly first.

  • @Oldbmwr100rs Rod Journals werent to bad actually- usually done on a separate machine in production setting

  • Makes me think about my last engine rebuild? I never checked for this ! Good video thumbs up .

  • I dont care what kind of crank it is, I paid 2500 for mine and I still put a mic on it. the better your tolerances the less chance of problems my friend. check twice assemble once!

  • damn thats a piss poor grinding job .002 across that little bit of distance is insane, you would think that eagles grinders would have a probe to check the diameter across the land to check for taper, most cnc grinders do, or at least go thru some type of inspection to check the final diameters after all machining/polishing

  • holy crap .002 out of round thats piss poor for a grinding/polish job, i hope you called eagle to let them know, should be more like .0002, for as much as one of those cranks cost

  • what is the accuracy on grinding?

  • on average whats it cost to have an older crank ground and balanced?
