Football Officiating Mechanics

I collection of high school officiating mechanics. Some are correct, and some are incorrect. A good learning tool for younger officials.

Play 1. Roughing the kicker Good call by Referee
Play 2. False Start on right tackle not called
Play 3. MLB #19 has a potential illegal use of hands. It was not called which was correct.
Play 4. Illegal shift Good call by LJ.
Play 5 Good short pass mechanic by HL.
Play 6. (Same play) Umpire did not move of come to the line.
Play 7. Interception and then block in the back by W-12. Side block (not BIB) by W-19.
*Same play from end zone camera.
Play 8. Holding (takedown) by W-54 the center. Good call by Umpire.
Play 9 Holding by G-68 the right tackle not called.
Play 10.Block in the back by LJ good call.
Play 11.Illegal use of hands by W-19 not called.
Play 12.Clip on W-54 not called
Play 13.False start on left tackle by HL good call.
Play 14.Wrong mechanic on interception. Give touchback signal only.
Play 15.Fumble / recovery. BJ should stay back from action around LJ and observe potential recovery and players around ball.
Play 16.Hurdling. This probably should not be called since the tackler is going down to make contact.
Play 17BJ should get to goal line and work back to ball.
Play 18.LJ should get to the goal when the ball in at the 5 yd. line and work back to ball.
Play 19.Holding on the right tackle not called
Play 20.Invalid fair catch signal - not called
Play 21 Illegal shift (not called).
Play 22 Slight contact w/ kicker (good no call)
Play 23 Umpire 9 yards off ball. Should be 4 to 7 at pre snap.
Play 24 Illegal formation not called.
Play 25 Good block in back called by LJ.
Play 26 Interception. LJ and BJ reverse mechanics. LJ has goal line. BJ has spot.
Play 27 Roughing kicker.
Play 28 Good holding call by FJ.
Play 29 Good DPI call by FJ & HL. U should not call DPI and should offer help on catch / no catch if needed.
Play 30 Good mechanics by HL. He stayed at home on the reverse.

Horrible mechanics indeed. Umpire on the first crew was lazy...hardly moved at all. Wing officials were on the field when they should be officiating at least a yard off the field in thier side. The sidelines were chaos, coaches, players out of the team area, on the field, etc. Looks like a big game too and it says to mee that the association is is probably weak and unconcerned.

At 2:26 of the video, you have a hold in the endzone by the offense. Flag was not thrown. Should be a safety.

Umpire at this Greenville game and I'm not saying any names Lee, you have multiple missed calls.

Punt return, the punt returner gives a fair catch signal and catches the ball and runs, no flag thrown.

At the 3:30 mark, the deep wing should have been at the goal line waiting on the runner, not chasing him to the goal line.

If all that umpire wanted to do was watch, he should have bought a ticket. He looked very disinterested in officiating the game. The SEC doesn't even use those wing mechanics anymore.
