Thea Gill (Queer as Folk, Dante's Cove, Mulligans) talks about her role in Maria Breaux's MOTHER COUNTRY and the nuances of sympathizing with a criminal protagonist.
MOTHER COUNTRY follows a young African-American man, Dwight Porter, an unwilling criminal on the run. After committing murder, Dwight grows remorseful and leaves his environment with a goal: walk across the United States in search of a former teacher, the one person who believed in him. MOTHER COUNTRY features up-and-coming talent Thomas Galasso, star of The Death of Michael Smith (winner of Excellence in the Execution of a Non-Linear Narrative at the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival), Cindy Pickett (Ferris Buellers Day Off, The Village Barbershop) Thea Gill (Ghost Whisperer, Mulligans), Elinor Bell (Redwoods), and Katherine Celio (Around the Bay).
