Hacking Apple iPhone earbuds to get audio for an interview in your next film! DSLR tutorial

Todays tip is all about using the tools you already have, you can pick up cheap adapters for around 30$ if needed and are much more effective. But if you ever need just a quick way to grab some audio for an interview in your short film? Well here is a way i'm sure most of you havent thought of before! You can use simple tools you most likely have lying around the office! Watch and be surprised.

@willtruslow Point taken! I worded that wrong, there is agc when use with voice memos, but you can use other manual recording apps like recorder pro

@bestsupscriptions would you look at that, sweet man! i think you probably did a better job explaining it than i did aswell! yeah i figured some people might have done a video or instructables similar to this, but instead of looking it up on the web i decided to just have a go at it anyways and see what i could come up with! your right these apple headphones surprised me quiete a bit!

@TOTBFilms Hey thanks! yeah the apple headphone mic wont work with portable recorders like the zoom h1 or h4n because it is actually a mini condensor mic that relies on the iphone for power. Good question,

the mic doesnt have agc, its the voice memos app. use an app like recorder pro which doesnt have agc

I thought so - doesn't the headphone mic rely on something called phantom power, pulling power from the iPhone because it's not powered by its own batteries? At least that's what I heard.
