France design (like cars, tractors, farm machinery) and areva is just a piece of shit. It is disaster that they made new olkiluoto three nuclear power plant. It was designed to be ready 2009 but it still on construction. I only trust diesel power, a Nuffield tractor power!

@WeatherMondacicci Chernobyl type reactors are being still used without any problem in former USSR - there was 1-st of May and workers turned down some safety systems to do experiments scheduled... dangerous experiments.

On top of all that, there were two 20-something guys in charge at the time of malfunction - experience stuff went home(!).

Russian designs are usually pretty shitty (centrally planned by bureaucrats), but this time - as usual - it was many human errors combined.

I can't make up my mind if this reactor is better than the AP1000, both have big things going for them.

The EPR seems to be the most safe, but it seems to be 'dumb' safe, i.e. layer after layer of concrete and 3 redundant systems.

The AP1000 using 'passive' systems seems to be the smart way of doing safety, but I can imagine theres the possibility of something going wrong there.

Help me out?

Nice design, even though I don't know jack shit about nuclear power but other than the events in the past (Three Mile Island, Chernobyl) I haven't really heard of any problems and since then the technology and safety standards have heightened to a great deal. I have more confidence in nuclear power now than I would have in the past (Three Mile happened a year before I was born.) While it may not be the best way, it so far seems to be the cleanest way and available now. We'll find other ways too.
