LETRA - "DULCE KATOLI":

Es Katoli, dulce Katoli,
Es Katoli, dulce Katoli.

Cuando vayas de paseo por el campo,
Una granja en tu camino encontrarás.
En ella vive nuestra amiga Katoli,
Una niña llena de felicidad.

De cabellos de oro como el sol,
Dulce Katoli, Katoli.
Aire de ternura hay en su voz,
Dulce Katoli, dulce Katoli.

Es Katoli, dulce Katoli,
Es Katoli, dulce Katoli.

Colabora en las faenas de la granja,
Y también en las tareas del hogar.
La verás jugar por la verde pradera,
Caminar tranquilamente junto al mar.

De cabellos de oro como el sol,
Dulce Katoli, Katoli.
Aire de ternura hay en su voz,
Dulce Katoli, dulce Katoli.

Es Katoli, dulce Katoli.

Adaptación al inglés - "SWEET KATOLI":

Is Katoli, oh sweet Katoli
Is Katoli, oh sweet Katoli

When you go out for a walk down in the meadow
A small farm in your pathway you may find
Is on this pretty farm that lives Katoli
A girl who's ever so tender and kind

She has hair that's golden like the sun
Oh, sweet Katoli, Katoli
Airs of tenderness in her voice sound
Oh sweet Katoli, oh sweet Katoli

Is Katoli, oh sweet Katoli
Is Katoli, oh sweet Katoli

You will find her taking part in all the labors
Whether they are in the home or in the farm
You will also see her playing in the meadow
And by the sea she can have a good time

She has hair that's golden like the sun
Oh, sweet Katoli, Katoli
Airs of tenderness in her voice sound
Oh sweet Katoli, oh sweet Katoli

Is Katoli, oh sweet Katoli

  • @Dekonega What nonsense. Considering what trash television has become in modern times, the return of this kind of programming would be a blessing anywhere.

  • @TaranWanderer2 The artwork is pretty average for its time so it hardly is a merit for the series. But if you like it then good for you. But imho it sucks as much as the book it is based on sucks. The book caused crisis in culture circles in Finland back in the 80s. This anime has never seen a light in Finnish TV and hopefully never will. It would break hearts of many people who like anime here.

  • @TaranWanderer2 The fact that it doesn't follow book it is based on among many others. The book itself is not that good and at the time they did the anime there was tons of better choises instead of this weird choice from Auni Nuolivaara. It also depicts Finland in a very very weird light. There's also the problem with story telling in the book which are even bigger problems in the anime. In Finland the book people don't even want to remember the book "Paimen, Piika ja Emäntä". It is that bad.

  • @Dekonega What exactly makes this beautiful-looking anime one of the 'worst series ever made'? It is heralded as a masterpiece of animation, and no doubt the art is top-notch, even if the storyline seems kind of slow.

  • @StarlingKnight It was not totally unknown... Unknown only to new Finnish Anime fans. Anime became widely popular in Finland bit before or after 2005 but anime hobbyers from the 80s like myself for sure knew about this series & remember this as one of the worst series ever made. Katri was never aired in Finland because authors children didn't give permission after seeing it. That's the reason nobody talks about it. And it would be best if younger generation of Finnish anime hobbyers also forget.

  • @StarlingKnight Italia songs are not "HAPPYHAPPYHAPPYLUCKYSUNSHINE" songs they are sung by Cristina d'Avena the empres of Italian openings

    She is my goddess

  • I havent read the novels but I was told the series, apart from the protagonist's name, has not much to do with the book and has a completely different storyline. Katri's sister is not included in the series. And the time settings are different. Maybe it was because of the copyright issues?

  • Good for you.

  • Yes, I know the series was never aired in Finland which is why I don't understand giving so much importance to whatever our opening sequence happens to be. One thing us Spanish can say is that the series was actually aired in our country and twice. Once in 1992 and a second time in 1994.

  • Interesting fact is that the show was never released in Finland cause of copyright issues - and the book where Katori bases is written by finnish author - and was totally unknown here until middle of this decade when Finland's first anime/manga magazine made an article about Makiba no shoujo Katori

back in early 1980's the author of the book, Auni Nuolivaara had already passed away but her children didn't give permission for Nippon Animation to do animation series.
