This performance was inspired by the derogatory nature of the sex industry. Its about self destruction, which was represented by the barbed wire around her body, the alcohol bottle on stage, disregard for money, and blood/suicide at the end! We know that pole dancing has come on a long way in the last few years, and can be far removed from the sex industry, but the reality of it being that pole dance does originate in such places that objectify women. Some people are of the opinion that lap/pole dance clubs are degrading for women, and the people that attend them. Tracey chose to create a piece of entertainment drawing upon past experiences. It was also inspired by Lady Gaga, who incorporates incredible theatre in her live performances.
