A Chic Organisation song.
UK B side of spacer."Steering a course close to dance-orientated rock, the masterminds of Chic have produced a very European-sounding album, as befits French singer Sheila. Sample the Kraftwerk influence on 'Mayday' and the blistering guitar work on 'Cover Girls'; it's Rodgers and Edwards as you've not heard them before. But the album's highspot is unquestionably 'Charge Plates and Credit Cards', a tribute to life with plastics which rocks into a sparse and spacious rhythmic groove which never lets up. Best cuts: Spacer, Charge Plates and Credit Cards, Don't Go." - Billboard Magazine (June 1980)

"...The album of the metamorphosis [from a teen icon to a disco diva] has the title 'King of the World', in which the ex-'average French petite girl' was accompanied by American black musicians, B. Devotion. The other important presence was that of Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, of the group Chic, which, after signing up artists like Diana Ross and Sister Sledge, had agreed to produce this album. The result, in addition to singing well, is that Sheila gave to her audience her own definition of disco music. A convincing definition, as evidenced by "He's a Spacer, He's a Chaser". - Philippe Margotin, Amazon.fr

  • Hey Tibbsy, I remember playing this a lot from the reverse side of Spacer! good tune, especially as its CHIC tune.

  • I think some people found Chic tracks repetitive but it is this repetitiveness that I liked.

It is memorising/hypnotising at the very least this is a prime example, and they were not shy about it, i'm not sure everyone gets that important trade mark.

  • 'Nile (Rogers) and 'Nard (Edwards) are Arguably, the most underrated production team of all time.

  • That's great classic, Disco is awesome, and will live forever!

  • @TIBBSY I remember this being on the other side of Spacer. Thanks for uploading this classic and the reviews you have included from magazines at the time. Cheers

  • Many Thanks for The Post !!

  • The nice sound of the CHIC Organization:))

  • God ! 30 years after, i HAVE to buy this album ! I love her! so beautiful

  • niles is the BESSTTT!

  • Arguably the finest, but come on... they are hardly underrated, their genius is pretty widely acknowledged.

  • Here it is. A special tasteful presentation of the song, using the luxury 2006 re-edit (hear Nile and Bernard or Tony chat before to start ! ), worked out by some professionals, web friends..

See my page, of simply search YT with "Sheila 80 - Cover Girls". Posted yesterday.

    Enjoy.

  • Hi Tibbsy, Great song, great album. Edwards and Rodgers may never get the credit they deserve. S&BD were a favorite of mine back in 1980, that's the year I graduated from high school. I've looked for years in stores for this album. Please post "Cover Girls" off this album.

    THANKS!!!
