Here's two new trains on Ex. EJ&E trackage East of Joliet. With the stacks of sectional track looming in the background, it looks like this place won't look the same much longer.

2:52PM- Eastbound CN M302.
Without too much waiting, familiar GE headlights round the curve with the M302. This train will take the Frankfort siding to wait for an approaching Westbound M343. The crew on M302 also died while waiting, so a replacement came.

3:57PM- Westbound CN M343
M343 approaches in the distance and passes M302. If you listen closely, you can hear a me and another guy talking. He happened to be a cop questioning me about being there. Without further ado, M343 passes with an awesome consist including a rare GP40 widecab.

  • dude awesome, love the k5hll on that gevo, too bad its the only good thing about them

  • They're just doing their job..so many scrap thieves and vandals in today's world, they can't take any chances, especially around the tracks...not to mention around those stacks of tracks where pieces could easily be stripped off and sold for scrap. Most cops (around here anyway) are cool about it and won't bother ya as ling as they can see that you mean no harm, not unlike this guy..

  • This Grade Crossing could use Gates when the second Track is being placed.

Did you know M302 carries Import Automobiles.

  • I like the horn on that GEVO. Nice catch!

  • It's not even that stuff they worry about so much. Copper is what the scavengers look for on railroads. Relays in crossing signals are made of copper are big targets, especially if they're in the middle of nowhere.

  • Not so much talking about the rails, but there are tie plates, spikes..etc..

  • try to lift one of those rails

  • nice stuff frank! And as far as the cop, as long as you were on public property, he seemd to know you were within your rights to be there.

  • awesome vid..2 great horns

  • Awesome video, beautiful K5HLL on #2276!

  • i really hate cops being mean to railfans. for that cops suck. leave us alone and go shoot bad guys.
