  • This is one of my favorite songs by Dolly. I

just wish the Wagonmasters didn't speed it up

about halfway through the song. Anyone who

knows the song knows the pace they use is not

the same as the original song, but Dolly is

still able to perform the vocal perfectly. I

    love Dolly.

  • Beautiful. Natural Beauty.

  • This is real country music, not the garbage on todays radio...

  • ...is she wearing a snuggie?

  • she plays that particular guitar in most of the early videos. i'd do anything to play that guitar, but i bet it's in her house somewhere. she's country perfection. the queen!

  • I just cant get over how great Dolly is. She is just so amazing.

  • This is one of my alltime Dolly favorite songs, in all versions she does - I saw her 2008 in Stockholm what an incredible show, what a fab artist this beautiful woman is!!! But here, her hairdo is absolute overdone - looks like a pet curled up on her head! She is still beautiful - If I would wear some wig like that, well... I spare you the details... DOLLY is forever my heroine - love her!!

  • They also don't change keys at the beginning of the "New Orleans held things in store..." verse, like on the record. Aside from an asthetic standpoint, the key change served to differentiate the two sections of the song (longing for the character's home, and then describing her life in New Orleans). Overall, though the Wagonmasters were a talented bunch, they were never really able to replicate the magic of Dolly's early RCA records, as performed by those legendary Nashville session guys.

  • Thanks for the video! Does anyone have the video of Dolly and Porter singing the song "Always, Always"? That was a great performance and video that I miss seeing on YouTube.
