Excuse the ignorant MrBigal1690 - the Irish regiments more than did their share - a hell of a lot more than the German family in Buck Palace who should have contributed more instead of just conveniently changing their name to Windsor in 1917 . . .

@Beaviz81 Agreed... but to be honest in the conditions the infantry had to live in I think death was a godsend.
I pity the young men having to march off to the slaughter of the trenches of WWI.

It's a very difficult war to debate. On one hand, you have unimaginative generals. But try to come up with a tactic other than attrition that could be used in WWI.
