This drill looks dangerous even though it is practice. What is the focus and purpose of this drill and is it for advanced practitioners?

Yes, it's for advance practitioners. This is to develop further blocking/prarying & counter attacks in a continuous pattern. The one you see, you may not notice, is a combination of about 3 patterns. The idea is pretty much the same with other martial arts; drill of their own. This is most useful during actual fight when you have to counter or respond quick against your opponent's attack. Unlike non-practitioners, they tend to stiff or move back or run away far in order to avoid the attack.
