I am creating my own alaia wooden surfboard out of western red cedar. In this video I am rough shaping the concave section on the bottom of the board. Thanks to surfing gurus Tom and Jon Wegener for being evangelists of the alaia, an ancient Hawai'ian wooden surfboard, http://www.tomwegenersurfboards.com/html/alaia.html. I have learned just about everything I know about alaia's and shaping a surfboard from them. Check out more pictures at Flickr; http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottleduc/sets/72157624652960953/

  • If you could find a area like say old picknic table and screw down a piec of 1/4 plywood say 12 x 6 at the far end to hold it while you plane.
