If there's a need to see a happy monk, this is it!!!
This happy monk is honest and good. I like him very much.
Never mind about the mind reading stuff which is only a logical part preconditioning the realization to LIFE.
It is good to have some fun.

All people have sensitivity to the "temporal, collective memory", it's just that some people understand that what is manifesting in their minds is infact the thoughts of others

It is normal for Ajahn Chah to read people's mind because he was enlighten. He didn't do that to show off or anything. He used that abilities to help to teach other monks to develop their mind to the higher level. Meditation is not an easy stuff. Having a good teacher helps you to walk on the right path so that you don't need to make a mistake often or when you make a mistake, the teacher will give a correct solution.

You'd have to rule out that the staff had observed the hungry man not eating as much in the previous days or something had been mentioned by the monk or another to the staff or Ajahn Chah. This is not that convincing on the face of it.

@drav1dan Right, because you can easily peer review the existence of a soul or any other made up thing that religion has to offer. Priests totally all talk to the gods they worship and the gods reply in a more or less objective manner (using our senses.) Or wait, no. That's actually untrue entirely. However, there is plenty of existing evidence for the theory of evolution that anyone can access without having to imagine anything.

@burningborsh : Just as in science, if someone were to invest enough time and effort, they too will be able to see that religious dogmas are perfectly true. They too will be able to reproduce the same results that the priests of the religion got. So, even religious dogmas are reproducible and peer-reviewed, just like science. "Reproducible" and "peer-reviewed" are not things that apply only to science. They apply to dogmas, superstitions etc too.
-
@drav1dan In science, one thing is built upon another, so if someone were to invest enough time, they too can perform the experiment. As for the important vs sensible/skillful argument. It's the same thing. Your values are just as bullshit as mine, but I accept it while you (at least appear to) think that things actually matter, that certain things that you want to be more sensible, are more sensible.
-
@burningborsh : Howmany non-scientists can understand a science experiment (other than some simple thing done in schools)? Almost none. So, your claim that anyone can review an experiment does not hold water.
You said superior vs inferior, not me. It is actually what is sensible and skilfull vs what is unimportant.
-
@drav1dan First off, an experiment can be peer reviewed by anyone, not just scientists. Second... Small minds huh... cute. You actually think superiority and inferiority exist.
what is the different between a ajahn & a luang phor?Anyone has the answer.Thank you.

Ajahn is simply Teacher. It comes from Pali word "acariya". Luang Phor means "venerable father" in Thai, and it is a more respectful way to refer to senior monks.
