I'm more impressed to see this shitty architecture of the two blocks in the front. Ugly fucking concrete without any green or space to live. This remembers me about my visit in Cairo - can't understand anyone who want to live in here.

ya i agree tht oil has contributed to its success in the intial growth...but even before finding the oil in 1966, dubai was already a hub with its ports.....oil just boosted the growth even further...but it was known even then by the rulers tht they had very limited resource of oil..so they built dubai in a manner wherein it would be a city with least dependence on oil...and now u can actually see tht 2% of its GDP comes frm oil whereas other 98% comes frm trade tourism and othr factors...
