Mattingly's spare-making was always jittery at best. As far as his style, I'd label it "slow cranker"... and I don't believe it would work in today's game, with its emphasis on speed, speed and more speed.

Don't ask me why, but as far as I'm concerned, Jeff's spare making wasn't where it was supposed to be.

I'd hate to say it, but his release would probably have to change considerably what with the new reactive and particle stuff.
