Indy 500 Bump Day Highlights

Highlights from Bump Day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 2011 Indy 500. Two rain showers heightened the tension on an already dramatic day that ended with Marco Andretti bumping Andretti Autosport teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay out of the field.

Damn good bump day. It's cool watching the teams celebrating because they made it. It just shows that there heart and soul are in this race.

Andretti Autosport has to go back to the drawing boards after this one. This possibly took Conway out of a championship run, and RHR is one of the more talented American drivers left in IndyCar.

This was the most dramatic Bump Day since the 1995 Bump Day when both Penske Cars failed to make the 500.

Hunter-Reay ruined Junquiera's race. When your not fast enough, you shouldn't just get to jump into someone else's car so you get into the field. Fuck Andretti Autosport. First they dump Kanaan instead of the useless Marco or Danica, and now they ruin the 2011 500 for someone else.

@cmfluteguy There will changes next year. There will be at least one new chassis manufacturer.....Lotus. In addition, there will 3 different engine packages to choose from....Honda , Lotus, And Chevy (which IS American) (a 4-cam twin-turbocharged V-6)...all three engines must be interchangable with both chassis', in fact, all will be fitted with Borg-Warner Twin Turbos....Interesting.

None of these vehicles had US built engines or chassis.

The INDY 500 has become pointless.

@thevmanvj I hate this deal but I can't blame RHR entirely. Going home is honorable but if he did he would lose his team and sponsor forever. No choice. Andretti did this so he didn't lose his sponsor as well. It's all about sponsors. Not that I'm defending Andretti, he never done anything good in my eyes. My opinion of him couldn't get worse though. It's Foyt that looks like scum. Of ALL people, he doesn't need the money. Not just that but he cheated a great veteran driver out of a great race.

This is to Ryan.....

Don't do it, man...your reputation, and legacy in the sport will be tarnished as long as you dare to wear a Racing Helmet. People won't remember if you won or lost, but that you bought your way into a race you didn't qualify for. At Indy..."Go fast...or go Home."

And that's what you should do...Go Home, and wait "til next year.

So, we finally have a competetive field, and next year we get new cars with different engines...

Does this mean that all the neysayers are finally going to get off their "CART was better rant?" I sure hope so.

We have one series, and it is starting to really strive, looking forward to the coming years.

I'm going to lose some of the trust I have left in this series if Andretti manages to buy out Foyt/Junquera so RHR has a seat. Sucks for RHR but I'm finally just sick of Andretti

There were 41 Cars that showed up this month....they all have Dallara Chassis'.....they all have Honda Engines....all on Firestone Tires.

It's abundantly clear that the engineers for Andretti Autosports did not do their homework with their Indy Package. They might as well just bury themselves.
