A ride on a 1987 model. This bus was on route 80 towards downtown Halifax. I would have filmed more of the bus' interior if it wasn't for the fact a passenger had to sit in front of me. It can't be helped since these buses only come out during rush-hour.
@busrailfan Thanks for informing me.

@TC40102N - That would not be why the pre-1990 Classics sounded different. This bus does have a turbocharger and is the Detroit Diesel 6V92TA model just the same as the later models. One of the differences is that this bus does not have the DDEC system on the engine. Another is that this bus does not have the VR731 series Allison Transmission which has a retarder. The bus in this video is simply the Allison V731 transmission with no retarder.

@ianfortepiano Yeah, well This one sounds just like 1990 MCI Classics my hometown used to have.

@ianfortepiano I've wondered why pre-1990 Classics with the 6V92TA sounded different.

@qwandiddy These are rare examples from the late 80s that had 6V92 engines but without turbochargers. You'll note they've got higher whines and not as much throaty-ness in the bass.

Sounds more like MCI from the early 90s model, not older than 1989.
