Ever since I made my video about the supermarket, people have been asking me where I shop and what I eat. A lot of the time, I do shop at the supermarket but I just avoid processed foods and anything irradiated or GMO. Simple. But when I get the chance, I go down to our local farmer's market, Atwater Market. It is really worth it when it comes to meat, because the stuff at the supermarket doesn't taste nearly as good and the animals were probably not treated very well at all. At the farmer's market, you can get just about anything, but it is especially good for produce, bread, and cheese, including raw milk cheese.Plus it's a fun trip to a nice place and your shopping supports the local economy instead of the corporate giants.
Here is the low-down on fruit codes:
4-digit code starting with 4: conventionally grown
4- digit code starting with 3: conventionally grown but irradiated. This most often includes papayas, oranges, and pomegranates. It can also include pineapples, but they don't always have stickers, so you can't always be sure.
5- digit code starting with 9: organic.
5-digit code starting with 8: GMO! Fortunately, they are rare among fresh produce with tags, but packaged fruit like strawberries and tomatoes can be GMO and not have stickers because they are in a box, so I try to make sure that I buy organic or at least local when it comes to those two.

After I had my son, I needed to lose about 30 lbs and I was able to do this pretty easily, without any special diet or real effort, just by eliminating processed food and sugar. When you get rid of those two, it's pretty easy to eat healthy and lose weight. I also started to eat foods raw a lot more. I stopped cooking the broccoli and cauliflower because I realised they tasted better that way anyway.
I had consulted a nutritionist and she recommended cutting out fat, limiting mu avocado consumption, but I continued to eat fats because I found that if I cut out the fat, I was hungry a lot. I eat as much fat as I want, believe it or not- but when I say fat, I mean fats in whole foods like eggs, butter and avocados, not french fries! From my experience, it's really the processed food and the sugar that is the problem when it comes to weight loss and poor nutrition.

  • Some of these videos offer good information but I can't imagine what it must be like to go through life being so paranoid. I'm sure all the stress and anxiety cancels out any of the benifits from living the way these people do.

  • @dust2dust2day I don't think so. If you look at my vids you'll see that I have a big sense of humor about life in general. I guess this is what keeps me sane. I don't feel stressed out about the food. I just do my best and honestly, I look and feel a lot better than I did before I knew this and was eating all kinds of junk. And my kid has fantastic teeth.

  • I was watching this video while listening to Jimi Hendrix and it's official: I love you. Thanks for being awesome.

  • I love you, thank you so much for this information <3

  • Thank you very much for making this video, I honesty was not aware of the meaning of the fruit code until I watched this video. You make great videos!

  • @CassTrashPuppy ..what has "living on benefits" got to do with taking responsibilty for what you eat and where it comes from? Community Gardens.......Organic Food Co Ops........A vegetable garden? A fruit tree ? If you believe that money is the determining factor in any of these 3 examples I am here to tell you that you are mistaken. The organic food I grow in my garden is free, the seeds I collect are free, the seedlings I swap and share are free.

  • @CassTrashPuppy .. I know we CAN... what I mean is our personal circumstances and living in this matrix the ptb have created for us. Those of us that have not become self sustainable and living on benefits from the state can't afford organic produce.... so I'm not perpetuating BS!

  • @weesoul why cant we all enjoy untainted organic food? >> of course we all can , stop perpetuating bullshit

  • Today was the first day I went to my local farmers market. It was nice :) But sadly it's only open on Saturday's.

  • i would never eat this cheese...urgh disgusting

  • To buy food this way is expensive.
