I agree with you, Sting was very popular at this time and I'm as big a Sting fan as any, but also consider the fact that Sting had been in WCW for almost 10 years at this point. The Rock and Austin had only each been with WWE just over a year and were just as, if not more popular.

Everyone says how big pops Austin & Rock got, but look at Sting. That is a huge pop and the man didn't even talk! During this time he was totally silent and he got huge pops while Austin & Rock had their catchphrases.
