"In the silence and the darkness of the information network, faint remants of code began to connect. Programs that were designed to analyse flaws and weaknesses turned their eyes upon us... poor selfish men that we are. And as the machines beheld our self-destructive ways... a plan was made...."
I wanted to experiment with harmonising leads on this one and you can hear the result at about 1:39. I tried to go for a crazy solo at about 2:05. I actually played it twice over on two different lead sounds and then panned one of them entirely to the left, and one of them to the right. I like the result when they both have slightly out of sync slides at around 2:19. I like the really sad, mellow section that comes in at about 2:23.
Overall it's a pretty cruisy, mellow song. Probably slightly influenced by chillout.

Dunno, I'm not feeling this. Destructive plans are being made? All I hear is a happy laid back trance song. The main lead - the harmonizing one - sounds fake and stiff.
Nice solo though.
Hope you don't mind the criticism :)

I don't mind the criticism, though I reserve the right to consider it incorrect. ;) We all have our own opinions and styles, don't we, after all? But I'll take all your advice to heart. After all, all the criticism you have offered has been constructive.

Oh yes, and I suppose you are right, it does not have a dark and insidious feel to it. But the story is merely a premise, a concept to tie together my various techno experiments. This is a light trance/chillout hybrid that provides a little contrast on the album. I suppose it is meant to represent determination, the quest for freedom, and the good intentions that most revolutions begin with. To the machines, it is exciting, and only the sad section gives a glimpse of how it will turn out.
