Here is the late Don Scott in 1985 & 88, who was a good friend of mine and my familys. Don was a pioneer modeler, one of the origonal members of the Hamilton Flying Tigers way back when they flew free flight and U-control from the Mt Hope (Hamilton International now) airport`s taxi-way.
In this video, Don is wearing his home made "cloud gazer" hat. And with his unmistakeable silloette, he was a regular sight at the HFT field for years. He was also a early SAM member, with a very large collection of vintage model engines that most of us would only dream of.
Don was also a early MAAC member, his # being 35L.
He would go out of the way to help a friend or fellow modeler, obtaining members butrate dope, alcohol, and nitro by the 5 gallon pail. I am still using small hardware he aquired for the club at a bulk rate discount.
In the first clip he describes his Lanzo and engine. For control you see his trusty single stick EK Logictrol. The next short clip is a Sal Tiabi powerhouse with ignition engine.
Holding his airplane in the first clip is the late Jim Crawford, another pioneer. In the second, Peter Baab.
Don was fun to be with, loved a good joke, and lived for airplanes. He was a great guy and I miss him.
