This is a video that I've been planning for nearly 2 years! It is a tribute to the Ffestiniog Railway's unique Double Fairlies, Merddin Emrys, Earl of Merioneth and David Lloyd George. Filmed over the last 2 summers featuring the locos at a variety of FfR locations.
The music is "The Fairlie Duplex Engine", written and sung by former Spinners member Hughie Jones. This was one of the last songs the Spinners performed together as a group before splitting. It is off the album "Hughie's ditty bag", which as well as containing many of the Sea songs and shantys Hughie is known for, also has other folk songs about canals and the FfR.
The Ffestiniog Railway Society is raising money at the moment to fund 2 new bogies for David Lloyd George. To donate to this appeal and ensure that the Ffestiniog has 3 working double Fairlies long into the future please visit http://www.justgiving.com/fairlieappeal

  • just been vvolunteering there at GIGABASH, am definetly coming back next time for MEGABASH and kids week

  • Very nice, although at times the clips drown out the very enjoyable song! Perhaps you could upload a slideshow, photos only with the song over to allow us to enjoy it fully?

  • @laalrattysbrother Thanks, I'll keep a lookout for it.

  • love the song too

  • love the song to go with it!

  • I mostly filmed it whilst I was volunteering on the FfR, and apart from the shots at Boston Lodge all of it was taken from public areas

  • great vid 5* love it

  • Finally got it done then. Just one little reason the Ffestiniog is the greatest.
