A day in the studio with Balance

When Uprock Audio in Sacramento, California got their hands on the new Balance with Reason Essentials package they set about on a new creative project. The plan was simple enough: They wanted to record a song with a local artist, produce it, then sample it, remix it, and turn it into a second entirely new hip hop song... all in one day!

We captured the process, spoke to Dean and John at Uprock Audio about the project, and put it all together into a music video. You can hear the song that resulted from their day's work and get a glimpse into the social aspect that Uprock Audio uses for inspiration, motivation, and just plain fun.

@RectoBold Here's some behind-the-scenes trivia. These are actually animatronic robots filmed in front of a green screen and then we built the virtual set around them in post production. :) Or, in actuality... it's not staged and it's actually just what happens when you film some guys in a room making a song but I wouldn't blame you for being suspicious when so many things are staged nowadays. We're just not into that.

Can you buy Balance standalone? I purchased Reason 6, and therefor have no real need for reason essentials, but would love to get my hands on balance!

@PropellerheadSW It just came across to me as being a bit phoney - Yep, I am suspicious by nature though. Honestly, and with the greatest of respect, I'd rather some genuine background on why Balance doesn't have Midi in/outs than on the video. Don't get me wrong - I own one, I love it to bits and I think it's far and away the best device of it's type, but the MIDI omission does mean I've had to add yet another doodad to my cramped desk. My USB bus is feeling the pain... :)
