Roman Mysteries (20x30'HD/10x60'), the epic BBC live action children's series based on the best-selling books by Caroline Lawrence. A co-production between the BBC and UK production company The Little Entertainment Group, this absorbing children's television drama follows four friends -- Flavia, Nubia, Jonathan and Lupus -- as they struggle to live through one of history's most turbulent times. With many comparisons with the lives of youngsters today, each episode deals with issues of prejudice, violence and the environment, wrapped up in riveting stories of mystery and suspense.
Budgeted at £10m for both series, Roman Mysteries is the BBC's largest ever children's drama commission and no expense has been spared in bringing the Roman Empire of AD79 to life. Each series is shot entirely on location, the first in Tunisia and Malta and the second in Bulgaria and Malta. The cast includes a mix of new faces and those more familiar, such as Simon Callow (Four Wedding and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, A Room with a View).
Series one of Roman Mysteries garnered consistently high ratings when it aired on BBC1 and CBBC earlier this year. Series two went into production in August and will deliver in December 2007.
Both series are available internationally for the first time and rights are available worldwide (excluding the UK and Australia).
