A report by Ángel Varela Pena from the footage for "Camara Abierta" TV programme (Spanish National TV). (Andrew Poole voice-over)

Hungary, former empire is looking for its place on the Net.

This scientist and blogger who is 30 has become a reference for Hungarians addicted to science. His name is Laszlo and with his video-blog teaches how to make home-science experiments. Also, he has a radio programme about science.

We are in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Laszlo is an example of this country finding its identity on the Net. It began as a game but currently Laszlo has traveled around half Europe with his science show.

But, there are more examples of bloggers who have joined the new technologies field. Anna Péter is an ambitious & cosmopolitan journalist who explains to us in Spanish with a Mexican accent why she created her video-blog about cooking a couple of years ago.

Anna can manage everything. She shows Hungarians with her video camera and her dog what people cook in neighboring countries.

During the last 20 years, after the fall of communism and the entry to the European Union, Hungarian creativity has spread and, of course, taken its place on the Net.

We visit a "co-working space". Péter Barta directs the company Web Station which has created the Sziget festival website.

Gábor Marci directs Solid, a company with a more creative profile which has created campaigns for example for the Ludwig Contemporary Art Museum in Budapest.
Has Hungary arrived too late to the new technologies boom?

László Nemes and András Kövécs created Artklikk in 2005. They have specialized in creating video applications for smart phones.

When they were young they experienced last moments of communism in Europe.

However, everything has changed now, but according to László, Hungarian experts in new technologies prefer to go abroad.

Bordered by seven countries in the heart of Europe. In 2011 and after seven years being part of the EU, Hungary is still is looking for its place on the Internet. It seems It is going in the right direction.
