Sviatoslav Richter plays an Etude by Chopin (op. 25 No. 11), and answers questions from Bruno Monsaingeon in an interview exctracted from "Richter, the Enigma" ("Richter, l'Insoumis")
@edhastie Yes what an awesome pianist.. Richter was a genius who would have excelled in whatever he chose to do. Just a shame he wasn't fulfilled.

@kirinlager49 It's sad that we lived in a world that causes that self hatred. And even more heartbreaking when it has such a profound effect on someone that brilliant and talented. He probably was never able to enjoy his life, but he left a great legacy behind for the rest of us.

@edhastie I think he may have hated himself because he was a closet homo... Wikipedia says that there were rumours he was gay, I'm just trying to join the dots.

In my opinion, Richter is one of the top 5 pianists who has ever lived. His recordings are some of my most coveted.
