What do you know about Jehovah's Witnesses? Journalist Joel P. Engardio, who was raised in the faith, explains their beliefs and attempts to change stereotyped images.
JW's are a cult! Joel is disingenuous whether he knows it or not. The don't have a "compound" in Texas but they do in fact worship in windowless buildings and indeed have Bethel which as close to a compound as can get. They don't have single leader albeit strong personalities over others and they do have the governing "body" (singular). As for voluntary donations don't let the discreet contribution box distract you from every member purchasing literature to hand out for free.
@PwrOfChristInMe I have found the way,the life and the truth and thats with the JW's. Jesus instituted his memorial shortly before his death and he said keep doing this in rememberance of him, not whenever we think of him!! Imagine doing a memorial to him everytime we think of him, for most people that would mean doing it several times a day.Naah Jesus wouldnt want this.He died once and to hold a memorial on the eve of the anniverary of his death is fitting!!
@PwrOfChristInMe Of course i wouldnt come to the same ideas of the WT, the bible is designed that way, noone can read the scriptures and come to true and accurate knowledge without being part of some sort of organisation. Why I dont go to the congregation is not an issue I wish to discuss, it is not relevant to our discussions!!
@PwrOfChristInMe sure you have provided me with scriptures and thats good, but whats the point if you dont know the overall theme of the bible. You dont, if you did you would know the Jehovah works in systems and is highly organised. If he didnt weant us to be part of his organisation then why did Jesus set up his church?
@MrOribear Jesus didn't tell us to have a memorial. He said for us to partake, as often as you remember Him. To declare His death until He returns. You might want to reread those verses. 1Co 11:24 and giving thanks, He broke and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken on behalf of you; this do in remembrance of Me.
I wonder what YHWH thinks, when the Only thing a JW celebrates is the death of His Son and then rejects his body and blood. That is really sad:(
@MrOribear I will pray for whoever I wish, and I only pray to the God of the bible not the God of religion. And if your god is for you then who can be against you? I know that God hears my prayers and I pray that one day God will grant you salvation and the presence of His Holy Spirit to give you a witness. May you find the Way, the Life and the Truth.
@MrOribear You sure know the doctrine, and every programed response just the way they tell you to say it. You just said god's people worship in congregations, but you don't go to them? What does that make you a wanna be Russelite JW? If you read the bible without the WT doctrine, I promise you that you would not come to the same ideas of the WT. But hey if you want to be a JW go for it, I hope it works out for you. I hope you are not left empty.
@MrOribear The WT doctrine is not scripture, is a philosophy on who the WT god is. God does not teach us to be in an organization. You can only serve One master, either you serve the God of the bible or you serve someones idea of God. I have only presented to you what the scriptures say, maybe you should ask yourself why those scriptures seem to be offensive to you.
It's interesting that the Apostles worshiped Jesus, I wonder why He offends you so much. Is it because you don't belong to him.
@PwrOfChristInMe how have they programmed me, I am not a witness and i do not attend kingdom halls.I study the scriptures and they clearly show me that the JW's are the correct faith. So you say I am programmed I say I am following the sciptures!!
@PwrOfChristInMe Please dont be going and praying to ur god on my behalf, ur god is not my god. My god is organised and expects his followers to be the same.
