London Bridge, Lake Havasu City, Arizona

This Bridge, one of several which spanned the historic Thames River, was purchased by the McCulloch Corporation. It was dismantled and crated across the Atlantic to its new site at the cost of more $7 million. An authentic English Pub and double-decker London bus are a part of the International Village at the base of the bridge.

@samholdsworth I can't tell whether you're joking or not, but just in case, NO THEY DID NOT, that is a complete myth!

The guy bought it after extensive negotiations, and there are even photos of him examining the bridge and working out how to transport it, so he knew perfectly well what bridge he was buying!

I can assure you, it is nothing more than a rumour. Yes, it's a well known rumour, but it is a complete myth.

And please re-read the second part of my first comment, which I can assure you is absolutely true.

It should really be called New London Bridge, to distinguish it from the old London Bridge (the bridge in the song).

@laurag131 The myth is that Robert McCulloch, the man who bought it, actually thought he was buying Tower Bridge.

Tower Bridge is the next bridge downstream of where London Bridge was.

But there is no truth in that at all. He knew perfectly well which bridge he was buying,

@athull08 Thanks for comment! Of course I know about this amazing story. And in this case I was trying to tell about this bridge. Its unbeilevable. America has a number of replicas of Old World wonders, some quite impressive, but this is a rare instance in which we nabbed the real thing... or.... may be I dont understand you... What is the myth?
