June 2008

The Harford County Modular Railroad group got together for a weekend last june at Harford Community College in preparation for the big August show in Timonium. Today I'm running an empty coal train on the layout of about 50 modules. The train incorrectly sounds a K5LA horn for the crossing at Steelytown. (Its supposed to be a Leslie RS3L) As a matter of fact, there is almost nothing historically or geographically correct in this video. but I thought it was too cool to not put on youtube. Engines are NS Dash 8-40CW #8366(suprise!) and CR SD50 #6814. (Atlas and Proto 2000 respectively) Engines and NS/CR hoppers are mine. Thanks to Ken for the setting of "Steelytown" and to Roger for the Chessie hoppers, even though they should be behind some Chessie GP40-2's instead of a GE Widecab! The audio is of an NS Dash-9 in Indiana. Thanks for watching!

  • It didnt come from a video, just an audio recording

  • K5LA?

  • @TheThomasSproduction The sound clip you hear is some version of a K5, however, the engine used in the video should have a version of an S3 horn

  • was the conrail a sd50

  • Yes, the model is a life-like proto 2000

  • This video reminds me of days i had to call into a software tech support company on old freeport road north of pittsburgh near sharpsburg. The same doppler effect could be heard from the trains down in the a. River valley. I loved that sound and apparently still do!
