@SparksDrinker Which is common for sexual abuse survivors. I'm afraid to be around children, because I fear I may do something I don't want to do. I would NEVER even think of abusing a child. I've never in my life wanted to. It's part of the emotions that are too dark and painful to process. The very thought that you have the capability to do it, terrifies you. Yet Dave saved that kid from a pedophile. Fuck life. Fuck God. Fuck society.

As a CSA survivor, I almost can't even watch this movie. It makes me too pissed off at society, and people like Sean Penn. If you're male, and you get raped as a kid, society picks up where your rapist leaves off.

I see many comments slashing this movie's ending.  Problem is that, this is not a superhero or even worse, "chick-movie", in which justice or happiness are prevail. The beauty of this movie relies on how a magnificent portrayal of how an horrendous tragedy defines the fates of so many people. That too, is what happens in real life: human interactions are by no means perfect and, if tragedy strikes one of our friends or relatives, chances are that it will hit us too.
