This tutorial is for intermediate-advanced cubers. It describes the steps of the ZZ method, and how to execute them. I assume you have used the Fridrich, Petrus, or some similar method prior to watching this video.

Note: I did NOT make this method, unlike the methods in several videos i've posted!

Here are the rules from the video for recognizing bad edges:

1. IGNORE blue and green stickers.
2. Two colors are SIMILAR if they are the SAME or if their centres are on OPPOSITE ends of the cube.
3. If an edge sticker and a centre sticker on the SAME FACE are SIMILAR, then the edge is GOOD. If they aren't similar, the edge is BAD.
4. If an edge is adjacent to a centre, and if the sticker on the edge NOT ADJACENT to the centre is SIMILAR to the centre, the edge is BAD. If they aren't similar, the edge is GOOD.

NOTE: If you are still confused about edge orientation, please view the response to this video! It contains a slightly different way of recognizing orientation which you may prefer.

  • Should you be able the whole EOline in inspection time?

  • @bommobiel That's a good goal. Some cases are harder than others. ZZ takes good advantage of inspection time.

  • an easier rule for determining good/bad edges is if you look at your Front, right, left, and back faces, the only colors of edges you should see are of your up and down faces and the colors of that face and the one opposite it, basically all the colors but the ones adjacent to the right and left of it.

  • @cammobox That would work most of the time, but what would happen if you had a bad UF edge whose F sticker was U color? Then you wouldn't be able to tell that it was bad.

  • who create this method??

  • you should focus much more on tehe actual method and less on the "good/bad edges" thing that makes it REALLY confusing

  • the zz method on speed cubing says the bad edges on when you cant fix them with the u,r,l d, moves.

  • tôi tài giỏi hơn ông ta rồi

  • if it's hard for us imagine for mr zborowski while creating it
