This is a piece I've been working on for almost half a year (on and off, mostly off) since I heard it first around January. This is the third revision, and I'm pleased with it. The order of voices are from left to right: Tenor, Lead, Bass, Baritone.

I recorded them over 6 days, starting with the lead (notice no headphones), and then bass the next day. Then I had to learn the tenor part movements, and then two days later I recorded that part. I recorded the final baritone track tonight after listening to the scratch track I made about 100 times! Haha.

I was so fed up because I couldn't get it right so I went and had a bowl of chili with fritos, and then came up and gave it another go. It sounded great, but on the video playback, I saw that I had a couple bits of food stuck in my beard! Oh well. I got the part right and now you can enjoy it.

Please let me know what you think. I don't know if it's a barbershop type song, but I love the harmonies and the movements. PS, I used very light vocal correction on the baritone track, but that is it. Added bass EQ to bass track and reverb all around.

I learned this via Mitch Fewell's learning tracks.

PSS, I am not annoyed, that's just my normal face! Hahaha.

  • Sounds great.. but why does it end here?

  • Don't care for the rest. Too many ohhs and ahhs. So I didn't use any vocal correction except on the bari track. It is MUCH harder and more time consuming, but more rewarding.

Thanks for challenging me to walk a thin line!

  • I know you don't like my opinion much but this post is one of the best ones you have done till now. Love it!

  • Andy-

Liking your opinion and valuing it are two separate things. I often don't like criticism, but I do hold it in high regard. Thanks for watching and for your comments!

  • Hey, I love this. I am a singer too, I know how hard that is. A suggestion, you should try singing with a darker tone, maybe just a little less bright. It can really change the sound. I love this, but changing your tone may be something fun to play with.

  • Excellent! I know it's a tall order, but there is possibility of having this arrangement in music?

  • Did you use the M-audio Fast Track Pro for this?

    - Really great job!

  • PERFECT, MAN!

  • Well, don't be so hard on yourself, this part sounds great. What program did you use to record and edit?
