I make a try at 'minimalism/trance music' with this piece. I don't listen to much recorded music, but I've probably been influenced by some Brian Eno records I used to listen to, as well as the composer Lubomyr Melnyk. The 'continuous' part refers to the fact that the damper pedal is held throughout; harmonic changes are gradual; motifs are repeated with slight variations; I try to avoid too much dissonance and emotional extremes.

  • I like it :) How long are you playing piano? BTW if you like minimalism you can search youtube: zbigniew preisner dekalog

  • Glad that you like it! I've been playing for around 35 years or so, though I am not a musician for a living. Thank you for the YouTube tip; I think I will go and check it out now. :)

  • The composer, do you know where he lives?

  • Yes I do; it's me! (*I was improvising however, and not playing from a written composition.)

  • @Kamibambiraptor darn. I've grown up as a neighbor to lubomyr, playing with his son, and they somehow left without any notice, so i'd like to know where they are now...

I'm afraid that was the one and only occasion that I ran into Mr. Melnyk, but if memory serves, he lives in Sweden now; if you do a google on his name you will find that he has a website & you should be able to contact him. :-)
