That dog is giving a friendly warning. When it licks its chops that means it's nervous or agitated.

Yet it doesn't show aggression towards the cat because they know each other. Also, when a dog really smiles it closes it's eyes and squints. Plus I see some nose flaring.

i honestly think it just looks like a reflex. if a dog wants to leave a situation, the first thing it will do is TRY to leave. the dogs ears do nothing to indicate aggression. the dogs posture does nothing to indicate aggression. the dog is not making any aggressive noises. the dog is not even turning its head away from the cat. when you scratch a dog's ear, they often have some kind of reflex reaction. i dont see the big deal.

I hate stupidity. Dogs do not bare their teeth to smile I don't care what you want to think. They bare their teeth to warn. If all the people were not present, that dog would have killed that kitten. This WAS NOT funny in the least bit! It's sick! This is the kind of stupidity that "accidents' are bred from. I'd be surprised if that kitten is still alive. If it is, one day that dog will have his way with it. Mark my words. You'll be crying and not laughing!
