This is one of the many things that I enjoy about YouTube. I performed this when I was a freshman in high school and I have never heard a performance of it since.
I played trumpet: there is a trumpet soli close to the end and the director decided to make it a solo because we could never stay in tune.
The solo ends with a high 'A' and because we were performing early in the morning, I was nervous about being able to play it musically.
We made straight 'ones'. We were lucky in Sight Reading.

Awesome Piece. I played 3rd Trumpet on this piece in high school back in '96. Unfortunately, we got II's at state competition that year, but the auditorium that we were in was Acoustically "dead." We would have had straight I's that year if we competed at UA instead.

Thank you for posting this! I played trumpet on OVERTURE IN B FLAT with my high school band as a student back in '75 and again with the band as a teaching assistant in the 80's, and it is still one of my all-time favorite pieces. I checked out several versions of OVERTURE IN B FLAT on YouTube, and this one is the very best so far. Thanks again!! :o)
