You people do realize that a product has to come out first, SDK released then people start working on the applications. WinMo has thousands available due to the OS being available for so long. iPhone has a ton now since Apple opened up the OS.
The Pre will have tons as well just like the older Palm OS. Stop comparing the numbers on release day. Makes no sense.

yeah the UI is just great. i only hope the app store can hold on with android and iphone

How are the apps? Comparable to the i-phone's?....I heard the sprint app store had like 18 apps, but I dunno...but the pre looks extremely responsive/fast from what I'm seeing now:)
