  • @KrimzonKnight01 You might be right because if you've never killed someone before it might be difficult to do for the first time. Of course, i've never killed anyone so i don't know for sure but that just proves the point. But I know that dropping a bomb is far different than killing someone with a knife. Ancient warriors fought real battles. Modern warfare is not really battle, it's just using technology to blow stuff up.

  • @ThegnThrandit will never come close to the actual experience.

  • @ThegnThrand your right, a soldier would probably lose. But put a reenactor or martial artist on a battle field with real weapons and his life on the line, and hed shit his pants. Im saying that the relatively safe and controlled environments of modern day reenactors and martial artists dont compare to the real conditions of a real life a death fight or a battlefield. Its like saying playing a game paintball is equivalent to a real firefight. You can apply real techniques and strategies, but it

  • @tallswede80 no, i simply know people in the military. I agree with you that simply joining the army will not make you a warrior. I think the only way you can call yourself that if you actually see battle. practicing Martial arts or reenacting are not sufficient for someone to start calling themselves real warriors imho.

  • @ThegnThrand I knew that viking was an explorer, merchant ect.But i had understood that at one point the word came to specifically refer to raiders/pirates. I read somewhere that sagas even talk about moorish vikings, or something along those lines.

  • @ThegnThrand Yeah, good point. But I'm just saying that a smart, athletic person would be good at both, no problem.

  • @tallswede80 A U.S military soldier would be an expert on modern battle tactics that he has learned and had experience in.Let say if you gave him medieval weapons armor and put him against a reenactor who actually fights with these styles weapons and tactics he would loose out right where he has no experience/training.We are comparing ancient warriors and weapons how would this help in the comparison.Only historical knowledge and combat experience would based on the warrior at hand.

  • @KrimzonKnight01 You watch too many movies. Anyone who is athletic, strong, will be a good fighter. Going through the motions of joining the us military is meaningless and does not make you a "real" fighter under any circumstances.

  • @KrimzonKnight01 You are acting as if all Scandinavians were not warrior class during the pagan era.Due to modern stereotyping all Scandinavians from the viking era are seen as vikings.Which are raiders, settlers or merchants. Some were not but all could fight and fight well by the Christian European standard.A Vikingr was normally a pirate and out cast but to go a Vik meant to go trading, exploring and yes sometimes raiding. So yes the word Viking has no historical meaning as used.

  • @ThegnThrand viking means raider, no? then by definition, if you went around pillaging and what not, you would be a viking. When exactly did i state that all Scandinavians were vikings?
