Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) visited Heritage to give the annual B.C. Lee lecture, focusing on the importance of American leadership in the Asia-Pacific region. After his speech, he sat down with us for a wide-ranging interview on free trade, Taiwan, the pitfalls of the Afghanistan withdrawal, and the implications of the Super Committee's decisions for our national security.

  • I love it when old wrinkled white men talk so casually about war and being tough. Joe's beautiful buttery skin wouldn't last ten minutes in a conflict. War criminals - all of them.

  • Lieberman is a sellout.

  • @Stevie68000 and a zionist ass kisser

  • fascism is cool.

  • @LanceWinslow5 True. Advanced avionics should not be installed in the planes because the technology can easily be transferred to China. About plane plans, China has full details of our F-16 's because of the sale of F-16's to Pakistan. Pakistan also shared American stealth helicopter technology with China.

  • Joe Lieberman is Jew

  • There is also an issue with "Chinese Spies" who have fully infiltrated Taiwan, so any weapons system we sell to them, we may as well send the plans, schematics, and manufacturing methods to the Red Army as well. So, there is that issue too of course.

  • Heritage Foundation rocks!!! they will really have their yr in 2012

  • @greensoccerballz High taxes and regulation imposed by government and unrealistic wages extorted by unions are also too blame. Instead of a trade war with China, we should simply follow their example. They are more free market than we are in terms of red tape and regulation. Apple doesn't have its products made in China because of China's currency. Apple goes there for reduced taxes, less regulation and labor rates more in line with free-market supply and demand for labor.

  • @greensoccerballz I agree, but would add that it is not the responsibility of American companies to do what is best for Americans in economic terms. Owners don't start companies to provide jobs; they start companies to make money. We are not born in this country with a "right" to a job. We are just born, hopefully, with freedom and opportunity. Moreover, government should not be forcing companies to provide jobs or benefits. That's how we got into this mess. The Community Reinvestment Act!
