Armed on Campus: Collective Journalism

In the aftermath of Virginia Tech, views on campus safety are changing across the country. Many students question just how safe they are, and some others want to take their self-protection into their own hands by arming themselves with conccealed firearms. Vanguard brings you a special report on campus safety, one year after the shootings.

There are three types of people in this world... Wolves, Sheep, and Sheep dogs... CCW permit holders are the Sheepdogs and keep the Wolves away from the scared Sheep who live in a fantasy that no guns = a safe environment... if you take guns away from law abiding citizens, then only criminals and those who would harm you have guns.. The people who take the time to train for and get a CCW permit are the brave who protect society. They are people that understand the responsibility of being armed.

A study by the University of Texas shows that "gun free zones" are the choice of criminals because they know they will be unopposed. And every event where more than 4 people were shot has occurred at a so called "gun free zone". So how is that working for you?

There are plenty of Schools in America that are buried inside crime infested areas particularly one with crimes against Women. Anti gun laws that prohibit people from concealing weapons with a licence only assume that private citizens are not competent enough to defend lives including they're own. The response time for a mass shooting is way too long for me to in-trust our government to be the only ones with the ability to stop a random killing spree.

Most (real) anarchists are "libertarian socialists", ie people who believe in justice, fairness and freedom. This means we're ussually catagorised as being on the left though many of us consider that whole left/right thing to be a distraction.

Some people call themselves "indevidualist" anarchists who mostly belive in their right to do whatever they have the power to do, ie' assholes.

There are also "lifestyle" anarchists, ie' posers.

That's the main themes.

Politically I'm what an American would consider an extremely far left "liberal" (I'm actually an anarchist). But of the two sides making arguments here virtually all the rational points are being made by the pro-gun people. About the only good arguments against were by the campus cop and the young life long hunter, but even they were equivocal. Unfortunately most of the rest of the anti-carry people were just stating kneejerk dogma and speaking from fear. Disappointing.
