My 7" version of this (which I think is original) has a much longer bass and drum intro. Great song.

I worked at The Batcave and lived with Jonny Slut who is also my daughters godfather and as I recall TOH were never played there. They were very underrated and deserved more sucess than they got. I'm off now to look for some old Virgin Prunes footage :)

@ThePunkPostPunkTribe Actually at the time no one said "Post Punk" or "Goth" for any of those bands. Bauhaus, TOH, SOD, ASF, Sex Gang, March Violets, Balaam & The Angel, Cult, etc. were all called "Positive Punk", at least in the UK.

Go back and listen to the early post punk goth bands: they all sound tribal and Angry ....like this. Christian Death were well after the fact.eg: Ausgang, 1919, Deathcult, UK Decay, Flesh for lulu (especialy Roman Candle).
Bauhaus were there at the Birth of post punk goth, but so were the banshees UK decay and killing Joke.

If i talk about the 80's and not now...For me its all the same roots at the base but since peoples are picky on label, Theater of Hate is (pure/Early) Punk / Post-Punk, It fellow The Pack (the band of Kirk Brandon before that one),they never sounded goth(no matter what sub-gategorie),they never dress goth,There is nothing about them to really tag them goth beside its into the same time area, Punk and goth was almost the same at that time anyway.
