RWC 2011 Rugby World Cup opening ceremony fireworks Auckland waterfront

The massive fireworks display started at 8:00pm and was promised to be the biggest ever seen in New Zealand. Filmed over looking the Auckland Fish Markets.

Six thousand explosive shells were let off from four floating barges in the harbour, the SkyTower and four buildings in the CBD.

The 'All Lit Up' show lasted 8 minutes and was set to an original composition by singer Don McGlashan.

A smaller fireworks display was also on at the Auckland Domain.
