Second technical test related to documentary productions - a random set of cuts of interviews about Arcade games done at Magfest X, National Harbor, MD, January 2012. PLEASE NOTE: Both successful and non-successful clips are included for study and understanding of the situation. The arcade was unbelievably loud and echoing, to the point that voices could be lost at a distance of 3-4 feet - tricky settings were needed to make the voices legible. Interviews in the future will not have such a noise floor.

  • May I ask what type of microphone was used, or was it built in?

  • @GTXCrusader The camera has an audio source, but just used for later synchronization with a program called "PluralEyes". I used a Sennheiser MKH416 Mic connected via XLR to a Zoom H4N recorder, set at 10% recording and with the boom mic something like 9 inches from everyone's face. (When the group is in the shot, you can see the mic.)

  • Great image quality. The focus not being centered is unusual, along with the amazingly clear image it almost feels like they are filmed in front of a green screen :)
