http://jazzpolice.com Mose Allison is considered "The William Faulkner of Jazz." Melding Delta blues with boogie woogie and bebop on the piano, laid-back vocal stylings and often satirical, always heartfelt, lyrics, Mose is in a category all his own. His devoted musician fans range from Pete Townshend to Van Morrison to Tom Waits. This video has him singing "Who's Lovin' You Tonight?" and "If You Go To The City" live at the Artists' Quarter in St Paul, MN 9/22,2007

  • Wow this is like a soundtrack from my child hood. must have been 12 yrs old before i found out he was a blue eyed canadian lol

  • Not quite Canadian, Mose was born in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi and went to college at the University of Mississippi and Louisiana State University. But you got the blue-eyed part right :-)

  • Lucky enough to have had a B&B with him at one of his gigs at the old AQ, when it was across the river. I like the new one better.

  • that would be one bad fuckin Jam!

  • Saw Mose & Tom Waits together in Madison, WI in 1979. Outstanding night.

  • Mose Allison and Tom Waits once shared a bill...early seventies, I believe.

  • I don't mean any offense, but I couldn't disagree more. Mose has a unique style and THAT is something to value. Interestingly, check out Nellie McKay "The Dog Song" and see if she doesn't remind you of Mose

  • I feel the same way! Do you know others like him-by chance??

  • Saw this man in concert 10 years ago. Never forget it. A great musician, wonderful songwriter and a true gentleman. Thanks for posting.

  • I've loved Mose from the first time I heard him - especially his songs and his singing style. Simple, but certainly not simple-minded. The soul of the man shines through his music. Wish there were more like him around. waylandn

  • genius

  • You know, it can't get much better than this. And silly little me who thought his fifties and sixties period was the best. I should have known better! I'm almost in tears of joy and respect of him and his music by watching this. It's just amazing. What a guy!!
